Politics and welfare must go together: Dr Farooq Sattar

karachi—Deputy Convener of the Co-ordination Committee of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Dr Farooq Sattar has said that Pakistan would become a truly democratic and civilized country if politics and welfare works are done side by side. It was because of this reason that Mr Altaf Hussain always gives special emphasis to welfare works along with political activities.

LTU Karachi collection to reach Rs700b

Karachi—The Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU) Karachi has posted 38 percent growth in revenue collection to Rs 695 billion during FY12 as against the collection of Rs 504 billion in the preceding fiscal year, official sources said on Saturday. “This is a provisional figure and after finalisation, the collection is likely to reach about Rs 700 billion for the last fiscal year,” an official said on the condition of anonymity.LTU Karachi is the major revenue collection arm of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), with jurisdiction over big corporate entities.

Rs 100m approved for Clifton Aquarium

Karachi—After more than six years, the reno-vation of Clifton Aquarium will finally begin in the next few weeks. The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has approved a sum of Rs100 million to be used for the aquarium, which is the only such public facility in Karachi. There are two other public aquariums in Karachi. One is at Karachi Zoological Garden and has 28 small fish tanks – similar to the ones usually found at homes. The other one is at the Landhi-Korangi Zoo. Here as well, the glass enclosures are small and cannot carry large species of fish.

Importance of daily routine to get a vigorous life

OUR daily routine plays a big role on our overall health. Everybody knows it very well but not everybody pays attention towards this point. Some people require changing their habits completely while some require a few to get a better life. It varies from one person to another and surprisingly research shows that most of the people are aware of their bad habits. However they find it tough to change completely.
