Chinese experts in capital to resolve water crisis

Islamabad—Chairman Capital Development Authority, Farkhand Iqbal has said Chinese experts have arrived at Islamabad to resolve the water crisis. Talking to media men on his visit to Sector I-8, he said a project of three-year duration would start in September in collaboration with China.

Rawalpindi —The students of NCA stunned the audience on Sunday evening with their hilarious performance in Ali Baba, an improvised version of popular Arabic story, incorporating mime, nautankye and dance. The play was performed by NCA Theatre Society and Student body, accompanied by the first ever performance in Rawalpindi by Rani Taj, UK-born Pakistani-Kashmiri dholi and Jismani Remand, a local band formed by senior NCA students.

Illegal constructions at streams may cause mishap

Islamabad—Owing to perpetual increase in the construction of houses, shops temporary set-ups in connivance of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) officials on the banks of streams at various sectors in the federal capital have increased the danger of mishaps during the monsoon because drainage capacity of the streams has been lowered due to incessant filling of streams with garbage.

Demonstration for recovery of allegedly occupied church property

Islamabad—Christian community residing in G 8/2 sector of the capital held a protest demonstration at PIMS Chowk here Sunday demanding the authorities to get the property of their Church vacated from property occupation mafia. Hundreds of Christians carrying placards and banners took part in the demonstration and raised vociferous slogans demanding the recovery of Church land from illegal occupation.

APP pensioners appeal for payment of outstanding dues

Islamabad—The retired employees of the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) have appealed to the President Asif Ali Zardari and the Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf for the payment of outstanding dues, stuck for the last five years. In a press release of APP Retired Employees Foundation here Sunday said the retired staffers had filed several petitions to the Secretary Information and the APP’s Managing Director, for the release of their dues for the last many years, but to no avail. The press release said that the Executive Director had promised to clear dues of the pensioners by June , this year, but now the management is even hesitant to meet the representative delegation of the hard hit retired staffers of the agency.
