Culture tool for presenting soft image of country: FehmidaIslamabad—The weeklong celebrations of Pakistan Week Organized by Ministry of National Heritage & Integration in collaboration With Lok Virsa (National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage) Concluded here Saturday at Pak-China Friendship Centre, Shakarparian with a Prestigious ceremony. Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Speaker, National Assembly of Pakistan was chief guest on the occasion who also gave away awards in different categories. The activities of the week, which started on 3rd June, continued without break till 9th June. Lok Virsa cultural complex at Shakarparian remained the centre of celebrations throughout the period. The theme of the week was “We stand united”.10 children begging on roads rescued by CPWBRawalpindi—Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) Rawalpindi has rescued 10 children found begging on city roads during last week. According to District Officer CPWB, the children who are found begging on roads are taken into custody by the bureau as the rescue teams along with police regularly visit all city areas including Sadder bazaar, Chore chowk, Dawoo bus stand area,Peerwadhai, Faizaabad, Murree road, Airport, Scheme three and other areas. He informed that the children taken into custody from different areas are presented in Child Protection Court for legal custody.Photographic exhibition Dark and bright face of PakistanStaff Reporter Islamabad—A one day photographic exhibition focusing on the plight of the depressed sectors of the Pakistani society was held here at Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) Islamabad campus. Around fifty photographs taken by students of SZABIST’s Media & Communication Studies were put on display.
The exhibition titled “Colors of Pakistan” also brought to light through lens of the camera some really colorful enchanting and stimulating insights of the society, such as scenic beauty, tourist destinations, archaeological sites and rich culture of all five provinces.
Diplomats of 20 developing countries visit FSAIslamabad—Mid Career diplomats of 20 developing countries were briefed about Intellectual Property (IP) laws of Pakistan and the legislations which are in practice at International level here at Foreign Service Academy (FSA), Islamabad. The committee comprising of Senior Administrator Officer/Co-Chairman District Red Crescent Society Aqeel Ahmed Khan and Secretary District Red Crescent Society Dr Waseem Ahmed Khan.‘Spine manipulation for neck pain inadvisable‘CHIROPRACTIC treatment for neck pain, a common technique which involves applying thrusts to the neck area of the spine, should be abandoned as it carries a low risk of stroke, scientists have claimed. Writing in the British Medical Journal, Neil O‘Connell and colleagues from the Centre for Research and Rehabilitation at Brunel University said cervical spine manipulation may cause damage to the key neck arteries and lead to a stroke. The technique is “unnecessary and inadvisable”, they said. But other experts believe the technique used to treat neck and back pain or other musculoskeletal conditions is a valuable addition to patient care, the BBC reported.Illegal use of residential units for business purposesIslamabad—The illegal use of residential units as business centres is on rise in the federal capital as people have set up businesses in almost all residential sectors, particularly posh areas of the federal capital. A survey conducted by INP revealed that around 1,486 residential units and bungalows have been used for commercial purposes in the federal capital.
