
Saleh in KP Peace Int’l Snooker semis
Peshawar—Former World No 2 Saleh Muhammad took berth into the semi-finals of the ongoing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Peace International Snooker Championship being played here at Green Snooker Club on Thursday.
Born on February 24, 1973, Saleh Mohammed represented Pakistan in various international events and his list of achievements is innumerable, but now after spending more than a decade and a half representing his adopted country, he is back to the country (Afghanistan) he belongs. Saleh, who turned pro in 1995 and his highest break was 141, played very attacking game by winning the quarter-finals against another promising cueist Rambil Gul by 4-2, the score was 69-47, 71-55, 67-26, 29-65, 63-22. In the 2003 IBSF World Championship in China he lost to Indian Pankaj Advani in the final. Besides winning silver medal in the IBSF World Championship, Saleh reached quarter-finals of the Asian Games-2002 beesdes winning doubles silver medals in 2002 Asian Games. Saleh tough face little resistance against Rambil Gul but overall he dominated the proceedings. Talking to APP, after reaching the semi-final Saleh expressed the confidence of winning the title.—APP |
