Govt to promote bio-technology for food security: Jatoi

Islamabad—Government is committed to promoting bio-technology for crop productivity enhancement and food security in the country, said State Minister for National Food Security and Research, Sardar Moazzam Ali Jatoi here Thursday. “The government has established bio-technology departments, at more than 90 percent universities to create awareness and utility of modern bio-technological crops among the youth in the country,” he added. He was addressing the concluding session of a three-day SAARC Regional Conference titled “New Frontiers in Agricultural Genomic and Biotechnology.”

FBR moving towards single digit sales tax: Chairman FBR

Karachi—The Federal Board of Revenue has taken cognizance of disparity in rates of sales tax and is moving towards introducing single digit sales tax; however, it would be achieved by gradual reduction in tax rates in a piecemeal manner, said Mumtaz Haider Rizvi, Chairman FBR while addressing Post Budget Seminar organised by Southern Regional Committee (SRC) of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) at DHA Golf & Country Club, Karachi.

ICCI calls for urgent measures to resolve CNG crisis

Islamabad—Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) has called upon the Government to take urgent measures to resolve CNG crisis and save economy from further troubles. Yassar Sakhi Butt, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, made these remarks during a meeting with representatives of CNG Association. He criticized the government’s failure to manage the ongoing gas crisis, terming it disastrous for the country’s industry.
