Gayle back in Windies one-day squad
London—Former captain Chris Gayle has been recalled by the West Indies after more than a year out of the side for the one-day international series against England later this month.
The 32-year-old, a dynamic opening batsman, is back in the squad after a 14-month dispute with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) for a three-match series starting on June 16.
Gayle, who has scored a West Indies record 19 hundreds in 228 ODIs, has not played international cricket since a defeat by Pakistan in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in March last year.
A month later, Gayle criticised the WICB and current coach Ottis Gibson after being left out of a squad for a one-day series against Pakistan.
TMA’s act of erasing wall earns bad name: Zaka
Islamabad—Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Zaka Ashraf on Tuesday said the act of erasig Gaddafi Stadium’s wall by Gulberg TMA had earned bad name for the country making the restoration of international cricket more difficult.
Addressing a press conference at a local hotel here, the PCB Chairman while appreciating Imran Khan’s statement regarding TMA’s action, said, “Imran is the only person who came out and spoke at this adverse incident.”
Imran had condemned the the TMA’s action of erasing the wall, claiming it was illegally constructed by the PCB, after which the PCB took the matter to the Lahore High Court (LHC).

Karachi—Waqar Younis, the former captain and coach of Pakistan, has been interviewed for the position of Australian bowling coach, as Cricket Australia intensifies its search for the man to replace Craig McDermott.
Based in Sydney after he concluded a two-year stint as coach of Pakistan in 2011, Waqar is understood to have spoken to CA’s team performance manager Pat Howard about taking on a role that was unexpectedly vacated by McDermott at the conclusion of the Australian tour of the West Indies.
Errani into first French Open semi-final
Paris—Sara Errani continued Italy’s French Open love affair by reaching her first Grand Slam semi-final at Roland Garros on Tuesday with a 6-3, 7-6 (7/2) victory over Germany’s Angelique Kerber.
