300 tons of waste transferred during cleanup driveObserver Report Lahore—On the eve of World Environment Day, Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) gave special cleanup plan to China Scheme union council No 16 clearing more than 40 plots in the area. Door to door waste collection was conducted, all major roads and footpaths were washed mechanically and public awareness activities were performed with students.
PML-N demonstration against load sheddingStaff Reporter Lahore—Pakistan Muslim League-N will stage a protest demonstration against loadshedding, price-hike and unemployment on June 14 here at Neela Gumbad.
It was decided in a meeting of City Presidents, General Secretaries as well as Coordinators of PML-N presided over by senior leader of PML-N Hamza Shahbaz Sharif MNA.
President PML-N Lahore Malik Pervaiz, Khawaja Imran Nazir, Syed Tauseef Shah and MNAs and MPAs were also present. The meeting reviewed the arrangements for the protest demonstration on June 14.
Surgery for hearing impaired persons startsTajammul Gurmani Lahore—The cochlear implant surgery for hearing impaired persons is starting for the first time in Pakistan and five persons will be operated at a local hospital in Defense Society on Wednesday (today). A Korean expert Dr Daniel Lee will conduct these surgeries.
Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club Rana Abdullah Masood audiologist and MD Hearing Clinic accompanied by Prof Dr. Sami Mumtaz Chairman ENT Department Ganga Ram Hospital and Dr. Daniel Lee, told journalists that according to World Health Organization (WHO) estimate there were some 12 percent people suffering from hearing problems. He said some 19 million people were living with hearing problems in Pakistan in different age groups.
