Students’ role in polio eradication campaign soughtStaff Reporter Peshawar—The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar has said that students at school level are indeed the important segment of the society who can contribute in an efficient and convincing way to get their younger ones fully protected from the fatal effects of polio disease and the initiative of the FATA Health Services department to involve them towards promotion of awareness is indeed an appreciable service to the humanity.
He was addressing the launching ceremony of the three day Sub-National Immunization Campaign for polio eradication; starting from 4th of June; the Monday in FATA, held at Pak – Turk International School at Hayatabad, Peshawar on Thursday.
Tarbela water inflow 100,000 cusecsStaff Reporter Islamabad—Water inflow in Tarbela dam is expected to cross 100,000 cusecs in next three days as on Thursday it was recorded as 63,000 cusecs against the outflow of 60,00 cusecs. Talking to media here official sources said that water inflows in all majors were gradually increasing due to current heat wave which gripped most parts of the country. They said that on Thursday it surged to 192,270 cusecs against the outflow of 183,470 cusecs. They expressed the hope that the hydel generation would also touched its maximum level owing to improve water inflow in rivers.

Karachi-Lahore Awam Express as per schedule had to arrive in Lahore on Wednesday morning but it reached the destination with a 16-hour delay.
Due miserable situation and lack of facilities in train, Yaseen, 60, of Shikarpur could not bear the intensity of weather in exhausting travel by train and breathed his last near Patoki. Widow of Yasin said her husband died of heat and lack of facilities in the train. The relatives of Yasin arrived at Lahore Railway Station to receive his dead body.
7.5 Magnitude earthquake may hit Quetta: GPSOur Correspondent Quetta—Renowned Scientist and Assistant Professor at Geology Department of University of Balochistan, Deen Muhammad Kakar has said that Global Positioning System machine reports have suggested that an earthquake of 7.5 Magnitude intensity and powerful like that of 1935 might hit Quetta city and adjoining areas.
He was talking to media persons here on Thursday. He said that GPS machines installed in areas including Quetta, Chaman, Saranan, Surkhab, Pishin, Ziarat, Shahrag, Harnai, Loralai, Qila Saifullah, Muslim Bagh, Lakpass, Kalat and Sorab have indicated that mountainous areas including Koh Sulman, Koh Kirthar, Quetta and northern areas are in eight-millimeter annual movement to South and due to this movement a great stress is being accumulated under soil.
