Gilani ready to go to extreme to fight his case

London—Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Saturday vowed to protect the constitution of Pakistan at all cost and not to be deterred by any threat. “Come what may I will protect the constitution of Pakistan, I will go to the last limit and exhaust all my options and exercise my right to appeal,” Gilani told a large gathering of leaders and workers of Pakistan Peoples Party here at a local hotel. The Prime Minister said his case was related to the interpretation of the constitution of the country and his only crime was protecting the constitution.

May 12 carnage Lawyers observe Black Day

Rawalpindi—The lawyers’ community countrywide on Saturday observed a ‘Day of Mourning’ against the unlawful and unconstitutional act of former dictator General Pervez Musharraf in 2007. As per details, five years back former dictator General Pervez Musharraf on 12 May, 2007 unlawfully imposed ban on the movement of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary at Karachi Airport and did not allow him to enter in Karachi city to address the lawyers, killing of more than 45 innocents in Karachi, burning of lawyers and media offices were damaged.

Indian intelligence blunder sparks anger in Pakistan, jokes at home

New Delhi—India’s intelligence agency sparked outrage in Pakistan and self-deprecatory jokes at home this week after it listed ordinary Pakistani shopkeepers as terrorists on a mission to attack some of India’s landmark institutions. The Research and Analysis Wing, India’s premier intelligence agency, issued an advisory to state governments in which it said that five trained militants from Pakistan’s banned Lashkar-i-Taiba group had sneaked into India with fake identities to attack a nuclear facility, oil refinery, seaport and defence academy.

‘Pakistan Terrorism Accountability Bill’ introduced in US Congress

Washington—Alleging that Pakistan has for decades leveraged radical terrorist groups to carry out attacks in India and Afghanistan, a U.S. lawmaker has introduced a bill that proposes to deduct $50 million from the U.S. aid to Islamabad every time an American is killed “as a result of actions of ISI.” Congressman Dana Rohrabacher has introduced the “Pakistan Terrorism Accountability Act of 2012” in Congress.

Nawaz threatens to join protest

Khushab—Chief of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has threatened the government that he would participate in anti-government campaign if the issue of loadshedding is not resolved within days. Addressing a huge public gathering in Khushab on Saturday, the PML-N chief said that he had made the motherland an atomic power but the government snatched away every right of life from the poor by imposing unbearable financial burden on them.

Another case filed against former GM Railways, remand extended

Lahore—National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed a new corruption case of Rs 340 million in purchase of 69 locomotives against former General Manager (GM) railways Saeed Akhtar. NAB had arrested the former GM on Bano scrap corruption scandal and he was on physical remand. During interrogation a new scandal emerged related to Rs 340 million in purchase of 69 locomotives from China.
