Hurriyet leaders’ arrest violation of basic rights: ShawlLondon—The Executive Director of Kashmir Centre London, Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl has described the house arrest of Hurriyet leadership including Syed Ali Gilani, Shabbir Ahmad Shah and Nayeem Ahmad Khan in Srinagar as a wanton denial of their fundamental rights. Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl in a statement in London said that it also amounted to shrink the political space. “India, which claims to be the largest democracy, should desist from such condemnable acts. Peaceful protest is the right of every individual and it needs to be respected,” he maintained.Mirwaiz asks India to hold plebiscite in KashmirSrinagar—The All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has asked India to implement UN resolutions on Kashmir and hold a plebiscite in the territory. JKLF leaders held, Geelani remains under house arrestSrinagar—In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has reiterated that the people of Kashmir would continue to pursue the mission of Kashmiri martyrs. The APHC Chairman, while addressing a public gathering in Srina gar, today, maintained that the month of May had a great significance in the history of Kashmiris’ movement. He said that in this month, Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq, Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone and the martyrs of Hawal had laid their lives for the just cause of people’s inalienable right to self-determination. Later, the Mirwaiz led a big procession and the participants raised high-pitched pro-liberation slogans.Indian troops clash in Laddakh, many including Colonel hurtSrinagar—In occupied Kashmir, several Indian army men including a colonel were injured in a clash between army officers and troops in Ladakh region. Indian media quoting official sources reported that the clash took place at Nyoma in the region, when a trooper allegedly misbehaved with the wife of a Major who beat him up. The officers and troopers of 226 Field Regiment were undergoing firing practice in the area. |
