Black magic and Islam

Faizan Khan

Allah has forbidden many certain things which are explicitly explained in Quran. Among such forbidden acts is black magic. Black magic is an undeniable fact because it is mentioned on many occasions in Quran and Sunnah. Its practice is prohibited in Islam and considered as an extremely sinful act and whoever practices this act, his or her prayers will not be acceptable for forty days and believing in what the magician says considered one to be a disbeliever as well.

Black magic includes amulets, talismans, witch craft, charms, exorcism palmistry etc. Islam forbids black magic and many Quran verses and Hadith have strongly condemned this as sinning act. The basic motive of black magic practitioners is to harm and mislead people by delusion which is again outside the boundaries of Islam.

Today we see many people even Muslim consult this type of practitioners for full filling their desires or to take revenge from some one, also in jealousy. But they don’t know that they are doing a sinful act which causes them to kick off from Islam. The solution is that we must read Quran every day to make our heart pure and try to stop from indulging in these habits.
