Kashmir again under global scannerHameed Shaheen Islamabad—This week two statements, one from UN Secretary General Mr Ban Ki-moon and the other from British Foreign Office in its annual human rights report, are of extraordinary global impact on Kashmir and South Asian peace prospects. The UN Secretary General on April 28, 2012, in New Delhi, advised resolution of the oldest Kashmir dispute having regard to the ‘will’ of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the real affectees of the unsolved Kashmir and incessant woes sprouting forth from the prolonged unsettlement. The words of Mr Ban are not individualistic in nature.

Special ceremonies including rallies were held in various parts of AJK including the capital city of Muzaf-farabad, Mirpur and Rawalakot under the auspices of various jour-nalists organizations and press clubs to observe the day which provides an opportunity to the press to recount their outcomes over the previous years. |
