Okara—State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Syed Sumsam Ali Shah Bukahri said that PPP-led coalition government could not be intimidated through long march threats by PML-N, saying the government would pursue legal and constitutional methods to undo the SC verdict. Addressing a press conference at the local press club, he said PML-N should refrain from its undemocratic methods, learn a lesson from history and move forward, urging PML-N to do away with its tradition of wielding power through the back-door tactics. Sumsam Bukhari said when PPP rallies against dictatorship were being batton charged by the Musharraf regime, these march-mongerers were sitting in asylum far away from the borders of the country. The Minister said that PPP would continue to adopt constitutional ways for remedy only even if the worst comes to the worst. Referring to the martyred PPP leadership, the Minister said that PPP founder Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had always approached the courts. Sumsam said PML-N has been interpreting the SC verdict as per its opinion and motives so that it could use it for its vested interests. Criticising PML-N pressure tactics, he said even the Speaker NA had not given its opinsion on the matter, adding that it was illegal to influence a court decision. Referring to the reconciliation policy of the PPP, he said PPP-led government had gone out of the way to pursue policy of reconciliation with the PML-N, stressing PML-N would never tread the way of democracy since the party was founded by a dictator Zia-ul-Haq.
