Monks delegation visits archeological sites

Resolve to spread KP as peace cradle across world

Peshawar—A high-ranking international group of Monks from Korea, Japan and China currently on “Gandhara Peace Tour” to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Monday visited various archeological sites of Gandhara civilization at Chota Lahore and Hund Museum in Swabi district. The delegation is here on a three-day visit to see the archeological sites of Gandhara civilization in different parts of the province.

During the visit to Kund Museum, a representative of Tourism Corporation KP presented a detailed briefing regarding the historical background of the Gandhara civilization. Monk Hwa Ran, Monk Bubil and Ex-Korean Army Chief General Park Hee Do and other members of the delegation were taken to various archeological sites at Chota Lahore tehsil in Swabi.

Members of the delegation observed with keen interest archeological antiques and described some of them as their precious religious asset. They expressed great pleasure over the statues of Buddha. They also bowed their heads in respect to the statues and said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was a cradle of peace and love and added that they would spread this message in the entire world.

They also invited tourists, traders, investors and intellectuals pertaining to Buddha to visit Pakistan particularly the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Members of the delegation also performed their religious rituals. The delegation thanked the Provincial Minister for Culture, Sports and Tourism Syed Aaqil Shah and Provincial Secretary Archaeology, Syed Jamalud Din Shah for showing them valuable sites in a peaceful environment.

While talking to the media the delegation said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the centre of Gandhara Civilization and added that they would offer ample resources for the renovation of these special sites. They said that Pakistan in general and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular was a cradle of peace and there were great opportunity of investment here.

Later in the evening, the delegation visited historical museum of Peshawar and evinced keen interest in the ancient remains. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Sports, Tourism, Youth Affairs and Archeology, Syed Aaqil Shah and Provincial Secretary Archaeology, Syed Jamalud Din Shah, also hosted a reception in honor of the delegation.
