Gangsters targeting power distribution installations in Lyari

Karachi—The gangers and criminals in the slums of Layari are targeting power distribution installation causing acute power related hard-ships including water supply, schools, food and groceries for the innocent citizens in the area. The power supply utility Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) has expressed great concern over targeted firing at electricity installations in the troubled Lyari areas where repair teams have so far normalized two affected feeders and restored power supply to the linked areas amidst highly risky law and order situation.

No time frame for end of Lyari operation: IG Sindh

Karachi—Sindh IG Mushtaq Shah said that about seven miscreants have been killed during Lyari operation. More than 20 accused were also arrested along with sophisticated weapons, he said. While addressing a press conference along with Additional Chief Secretary for Interior Sohail Baloch, Mushtaq Shah said that timeframe of end of Lyari operation could not be announced.

KKF despatches relief goods to people of Lyari

Karachi—On special instruction of the Founder and Leader of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Mr Altaf Hussain, Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation, the welfare wing of MQM, has despatched a large quantity of necessities of life loaded on four trucks, to the besieged residents of Lyari who had been facing great trouble and scarcity of commodities of daily use due to the crackdown launched by the Government against the criminals in Lyari.

Sindh CM leaves for UAE to attend moot on investment

Karachi—Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah left here Monday for Dubai to attend second round of the Annual Investment meeting to be held at Dubai from May 1st to 3. It may be recalled that UAE Ambassador in Pakistan Essa Abdullah Al-Basha Al Noaimi had invited the Chief Minister Sindh to lead the team from Sindh, which he had accepted. UAE and Pakistan are jointly organizing moot for investment for various countries.

BASR awards PhD degree to five researchers of KIBGE

Karachi—In a recent meeting of Board of Advanced studies and Research, University of Karachi, five researchers of Dr. A. Q. Khan Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (KIBGE), KU, has been awarded the PhD degree. These include, Dr. Saboohi Raza who used special technique of Genetic Engineering in her studies which is called somaclonal variation. This technique is used to identify good form of sugarcane.
