Jinnah Avenue to be made signal-free

Islamabad—Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced upgradation of Jinnah Avenue as signal-free road to provide smooth traffic flow around Blue Area, the commercial hub of Federal Capital. “We are set to execute the idea as it has been need of the hour because traffic snarls on the important avenue impede business activity besides testing nerves of the motorists,” Chairman CDA Farkhand Iqbal said.

Flood affectees concerned about slow-progress

Islamabad—A group of people representing the flood-affected communities of Sindh and Balochistan were disappointed when they failed to find government officials to listen to their grievance at a seminar held in Islamabad on Monday. “Since we cannot find our elected political representatives in our home villages and towns, we came all the way to Islamabad with great hope to express our concerns to the officials directly but unfortunately no one turned up to listen to us even here” grumbled Gordhan Kohli, resident of Tharparkar district of Sindh province.

Azerbaijan launches welfare projects

Donates Rs4m to Saifullah Foundation for healthcare

Islamabad—Azerbaijan while launching humanitarian and welfare projects in Pakistan initially donated Rs. 4 million to Saifullah Foundation to carry out healthcare and other projects for poor segments of society. Announcing this in a ceremony on Monday here, the Azerbaijan ambassador Dashgin Shikarov said: “Today’s event reaffirms the strong ties of brotherhood that exist between our two nations and marks the start of a deepening our commitment to improve the lives of brothers and sisters in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.”

Gilani inaugurates Radio Pakistan multi-media studio

Islamabad—Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani inaugurated Radio Pakistan’s first Multi-Media Studio and distributed letters regularizing 661 daily wage employees at the National Broadcasting House here on Monday. On this occasion, PBC Director General Murtaza Solangi informed the prime minister that besides traditional way of broadcasting, Radio Pakistan has now entered the era of providing information and entertainment to the people through live audio and video streaming, text, and IVR.

Sewage treatment plant to be installed in catchment area of Rawal Lake

Islamabad—Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration decided to install the sewage treatment plant in shortest possible time in catchment areas of Rawal Lake. The decision to this effect was made in a meeting chaired by the Chief Commissioner, Islamabad, Tariq Mahmood Pirzada. It was also decided that Capital Development Authority (CDA) will be asked to immediately connect sewage water of Noor Pur Shahan with the already passing trunk line.

Two foreigners arrested in theft case

Islamabad—Islamabad Police have arrested ten persons including two foreigners for their alleged involvement in theft activities and also recovered stolen items, weapons and hashish from their possession, a police spokesman said. According to details, Assistant Sub-Inspector Muhammad Iqbal from Shalimar police arrested an African Yousuf Tahasan and Palestinian Muhammad Boosheri for alleged involvement in theft activities.

Scientists work tirelessly to make country nuclear power: Dr Samar

Rawalpindi—Renowned nuclear scientist and founding chairman of NESCOM, Dr. Samar Mubarakmand said that our experienced scientists worked tirelessly to make Pakistan an atomic power and prevented India from launching any offensive campaign against our national security. Protection of labour rights imperative: Fehmida
