Hoti hails hard work of doctors, paramedics

Peshawar—NWFP Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has appreciated hard work and dutifulness of the management, doctors and paramedical staff of Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Peshawar for provision of better look after and treatment facilities to those injured in the terrorist incidents. Talking to the representatives of media here during his visit to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) on the third-day of Eidul Azha Monday, he said that devoted service will prove beneficial for them both in their life and eternal life.

Pak Navy to strengthen ties with Malaysian counterpart

Islamabad—Two Pakistani naval ships PNS Moawin and PNS Khyber will reach the Malaysian port of Langkawi to attend LIMA -09 to promote bilateral naval ties. The Pakistani ships will stay in Langkawi from November 30 to December 6, to enhance defence relations and goodwill between the two countries, says a press release issued by Pakistan’s High Commission in Kuala Lumpur. The High Commissioner for Pakistan, Lt. General (Retd) Tahir Mahmud Qazi while commenting upon the visit said it was yet another milestone in keeping up the good naval traditions of strengthening ties of friendship between the two brotherly nations of Pakistan and Malaysia and their two navies.

Qureshi discusses range of issues with Miliband

Islamabad—Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi met his British counterpart David Miliband on the margins of the Commonwealth Head of Government Meeting (CHOGM), in Port of Spain and discussed a whole range of issues of mutual interest Saturday. The Foreign Minister briefed his British counterpart on the gains made by Pakistan against militancy, including the successful law enforcement operation in Malakand. Similar success is being achieved in Waziristan.

Need to uphold Islamic principles stressed

Sialkot—Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated with traditional zeal and religious fervour in Daska, Sialkot, Pasrur, Zafarwal, Sambrial and Ugoki areas of the district. Eid prayers were offered in different mosques and grounds in the city and other parts of the district. Strict security measures were adopted by the district administration for maintaining law and order in the district. While addressing Eid congregations, the ulema stressed the need to fully observe the tenets of Islam and the golden teachings of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) for success fully meeting multiple challlenges and difficulties in this life.

MQM not beneficiary of NRO: Ghauri

Karachi—Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Babar Ghauri has said MQM is not the beneficiary of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), as the criminal cases were filed on political basis, adding the people know very well who engineered these cases. Talking to media he said tension-spawning people can tell as to why the estrangement arose between Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
