Thousands converge to recreational spots

Islamabad—Thousands of twin cities residents converged in the parks and public places to rejoice Eid-ul-Azha festivities amid cooler temperatures. After spending two days in prime segment of sacrificing animals, scores of people including children and women visited recreational sites on Monday. Subsequently, picnic spots in Islamabad and adjoining Rawalpindi witnessed traditional festivity on third day of Eid.

Studies to improve water resources of mountainous areas

Islamabad—The government is working on a project to undertake various research and development activities for the improvement of water resources of mountainous areas. Under the project, costing Rs. 28 million a result oriented short-term research studies are being conducted, official sources said here Monday.

PPP united to foil anti democracy mechinations:Aamir

Rawalpindi—The City President of Pakistan Peoples’ Party, Malik Aamir Fida Paracha has said that the PPP is united under the dynamic leadership of President Zardari. It will not only counter all the conspiracies against the government but also hold anti democratic elements accountable for going against desires of people. He was talking to a gathering which was held at party’s office to observe 43rd Commemoration Day of Pakistan Peoples’ Party in which Member Central Executive Committee Qazi Sultan Mehmood, leaders of the party Anjum Farooq Paracha, Rashid Mir, Sajjad Haider and Sumera Gul along with hundred of workers participated.

Sanitation staff outdoes themselves

Islamabad/Rawalpindi—The residents of twin cities praised the effective measures taken by authorities concerned to keep the city clean on the religious occasion of Eidul Azha.  According to a spokesperson for the CDA’s, directorate’s all sanitation staff members totaling 2,000 were on duty during Eid days. Around 100 vehicles were also in the field for collection of animal waste before its transportation to the landfill.

Transporters charge high fares

Islamabad—As usual, cab and rickshaw drivers have exploited the commuters by charging high fare as there was immense shortage of local transporters during Eid holidays and they (commuters) have no choice but to pay fares demanded by drivers. The passengers while commenting on the situation said that cab and rickshaw drivers demanded high fares taking advantage of Eid.
