Musharraf summons
SHC wants publication in UK press

Karachi—Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued directives that summons of former president Pervez Musharraf be advertised in the newspapers of London so that he may appear before the court.

A division bench of SHC comprising chief justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani and justice Sajjad Ali Shah issued these orders while hearing a petition seeking registration of betrayal with constitution ed case against Pervez Musharraf.

The court was informed summones could not be served on Pervez Musharraf as he was in London. Upon it the court issued orders for publication of advertisement in London newspaper and adjourned the hearing of the case.

This constitutional petition has been filed by leader of Awami Himayat Tehrik, Moulvi Iqbal Haider whereby ministry of law, ministry of interior, former president Pervez Musharraf, Sharif ud Din Pirzada, Malik Qayyum and registrar of Islamabad High Court have been made respondents.

Counsels for Malik Qayyum and Sharif ud Din Pirzada appeared in the court during the hearing of case Thursday. The petitioner had taken plea that President Asif Zardari had issued the orders for reinstatement of deposed judges including chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on the demand of people and not under any constitutional provision.—Online
