Tariq Saeed

Peshawar—The provincial metropolis Peshawar had hardly seen a few days of peace when it was rocked again Thursday as a remote controlled bomb blew near busy Charsadda road early morning which left as many as three people including a SHO seriously injured.

The remote controll explosive device, as the officials confirmed was planted under an electricity pole closed to a private school in Bashirabad area Charsadda road by the unknown miscreants targeting the men in uniform. The Station House Officer (SHO) Gulbahar Riazul Islam was on his way to office from his residence in his private Suzuki Cultus car when the miscreants detonated the explosive device.

While the car was damaged badly, SHO Riaz, his driver and a school going kid received injuries. The rescue workers, heavy contingent of police and the Edhi ambulances besides the Bomb Disposal squad rushed to the site, a residential area to carry out rescue operation. The victims were rushed to Lady Reading hospital where the doctors termed the condition of all the victims as stable.

In the blast explosive material weighing between two to three kilogram was and used, was heard with in radius of 3 kilometers and created panic among the residents of the area. The window panes of number of nearby houses were also smashed.

While the city of Peshawar has been under attack for quite some time, the terrorists are mostly targeting the men in uniform. Around twenty people including security men were killed when the miscreants blew up the CIA interrogation wing in cantonment area last month while during the last fortnight a couple of policemen along with a civilian were killed when the suicide bomber blew himself at a police check post in the same Charsadda road in the morning on November 9 followed by a deadly suicide attack on the provincial headquarters of an intelligence agency situated in the most sensitive and heavily guarded area on November 13 leaving as many as 12 people including 7 security men dead as five policemen were killed during attack at a police station in Bannu the same day. The same night a police mobile was blown up with the help of remote controlled bomb in the interior city leaving two cops dead and wounding another eight.
