No new filling stations on Expressway: CDA

Islamabad—The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has put a ban on issuance of permits for more filling stations on Islamabad Expressway, officially, decided to ensure the security of the VVIP route. According to a senior CDA official, the Authority has banned the opening of more filling stations on the 10-lane Expressway from Faizabad to Airport Chowk to ensure safe movement of the VIPs traveling to and from Benazir Bhutto International Airport.

World Toilet Day
2.5 billion have no access to sanitation

Islamabad—World Toilet Day is observed in the third week of November every year to draw attention to the importance of sanitation and raise awareness for about 2.5 billion who do not have access to toilets and proper sanitation. According to a press release issued from National Environmental Information Management System here on Thursday, absence of access to proper sanitation risks people health, strips their dignity and kills 1.8 million people mostly children, every year.

Rs 4.4m Japanese aid MoU signed with TCF

Islamabad—Japan will extend financial support of Rs 4.4 million to the “The Citizens Foundation (TCF)”, a non- governmental organization, under the “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects” for the extension of primary school in Dina Nath, Bhai Phero, Punjab. According to Japanese embassy, the agreement for the project was signed Thursday at the Japanese Ambassador’s residence here between Chihiro Atsumi, the Ambassador of Japan and Syed Asaad Ayub Ahmad, President & CEO of The Citizens Foundation.

90,000 children to get PBM aid

Islamabad—Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) will soon extend its Child Support Programme (CSP) countrywide as its has enrolled 90,000 children of 40,000 families with financial support of Rs 300 and Rs 600 per month. The amount in form of ‘Conditional Cash Transfers’ is given to the ultra poor families for sending their children to school in the age bracket of 5 to 12 years old, said Zamurrad Khan, Managing Director PBM while talking to APP.

Over 300,000 IDPs to get visa cards soon

Islamabad—Benazir Income Support Programme has signed an agreement with United Bank Limited (UBL) to pay benefits to 318,126 families of Swat and Malakand through visa cards. The process to issue visa cards to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of Swat and Malakand will be initiated in the first week of December, official sources of the programme told APP here Thursday.
