Media urged to be responsible, credible

Lahore—Senior Provincial Minister, Raja Riaz Ahmed has said that our national media should be more responsible and credible. He added our anchors should not be a party against any government. He disclosed that in his presence, Dr. Shahid Masood touched knees of Asif Ali Zardari and after being Chairman of PTV, he has no right to criticize government for the sake of his own interests.

Saadqain’s paintings to be preserved

Lahore—Experts are being hired from India for the preservation of highly precious paintings of renowned artist Saadqain in Lahore Museum’s Saadqain Gallery under a project to cost Rs 40 millions. Punjab Minister for culture and youth affairs, Dr.Tanvir-ul-Islam stated this while presiding over the monthly review meeting of development projects of culture and youth affairs departments.

Teachers play pivotal role in students’ grooming

Lahore—Punjab Minister for Population Welfare, Neelam Jabar Ch Wednesday said that teachers have respectable place in society and they should play a pivotal role in grooming student’s personality. Addressing the oath taking ceremony of newly recruited educators at Chinot, the government has recruited 40,000 educators through transparent procedure purely on merit for enhancing literacy rate in the province.

Consumer courts role lauded

Lahore—Consumer courts are playing an effective role in checking adulteration and artificial hike in prices and in next few years these courts will be instrumental in safeguarding the rights of consumers. Chairman Task Force for Essential Items, S.A Hamid expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of Punjab Consumer Protection Council here Wednesday.
