Islamabad—Federal Government has unfolded a
comprehensive and multi-dimensional special
package for Balochistan combining together
political, administrative and economic
initiatives aimed at addressing longstanding
grievances of the province and ameliorate the
lot of its people.
Islamabad—Pakistan has warned that remarks of
the Indian Army Chief about a limited war under
a nuclear overhang only reaffirmed India’s
dangerous and offensive nuclear doctrine.
Reacting to the statement of General Kapoor made
on Monday, Foreign Office spokesman said India
has long been working on the so-called ‘Cold
Start’ strategy and preparing for a limited war
against Pakistan.
Washington—President Barack Obama declared
Tuesday that U.S. ties with India will be “one
of the defining relationships” of the 21st
century as he welcomed India’s prime minister
for the first state visit of his administration.
Islamabad—Most Baloch leaders have expressed
their reservations over the Balochistan package.
The Baloch leaders have expressed the view that
the real problems of the people of Balochistan
have not been addressed in the package.
Senator Hasil Bizenjo, criticizing the package
said, it falls short of expectations of the
people of Balochistan.
Karachi—Effective November 25, the central bank
has decided to lower policy rate by 50 bps to
12.5 percent which translates into a 0.50
percent cut in interest rate. Substantiating the
decision of lowering the interest rate in the
Monetary policy review the central bank said
that striking a balance between monetary and
financial stability and real economic activity
has become increasingly difficult.
Islamabad—Pakistan High Commissioner in London
Wajid Shamsul Hasan feels hurt by mention of his
name with reference to NRO beneficiaries, saying
he was not one of them. In a telephonic
interview from London, he told this scribe in
the very outset that he was sorry to note that
some how his name regularly got mentioned in
reports on the beneficiaries of NRO along with
others.
