Pervez asks KESC to end loadshedding

Karachi—Federal Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf has asked Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) to utilise its entire generation capacity to completely end the load shedding in the city. The government would extend all possible help to KESC in resolving its fuel problem during the winter season, he said while addressing the media after attending KESC briefing.

Pakistan Post to open 100 express centres

Islamabad—Ministry of Pakistan Postal Services will open 100 “small and smart” express centres with modern facilities to ensure sustained growth in earning and profitability by catering the customers needs. Director General PPO Muhammad Najeeb told APP that small and smart express centers would be set up throughout the country during this financial year to implement the direction given by Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Govt to construct 11 small dams under PKP

Islamabad—The government plans to construct 11 small dams under ‘Piyara Kashmir Programme’ (PKP) to meet water and power needs of the entire area. Under the programme worth around Rs. 11 billion, a number of development projects would be launched which would help improve infrastructure and create employment opportunities in Azad Kashmir.

New attack fells internet explorer

A hacker has posted attack code that could be used to break into a PC running older versions of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser. The code was posted Friday to the Bugtraq mailing list by an unidentified hacker.

UNCERTAINTY has taken over the energy world. And it is detrimental to every one, be it consumer or producer. The consequences could be horrific. A number of factors are in play. The volatility of oil market pricing is a major issue. After all most producers have a single product economy. With extreme swings in play, they are almost in dark while projecting their long-term incomes and expenses. OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) oil producers could lose $4 trillion in revenue between now and 2030, if a UN conference in Copenhagen next month strikes a deal on global warming curbs, the International Energy Agency projected earlier.
