Islamabad—The Federal government on Saturday
released the much awaited list of 8041
beneficiaries of the National Reconciliation
Ordinance. The list released by the Minister of
State for Law Afzal Sandhu at a crowded press
conference here shows that 248 persons,
including politicians, bureaucrats and three
diplomats are among those who took benefit from
the ordinance.
Srinagar—All Parties Hurriyet
Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said
that he has reached tripartite agreement on the
issue of Kashmir through backdoor diplomacy.
Speaking to an Indian newspaper at his residence
here, the APHC leader said a New Delhi-Srinagar
agreement with Pakistan on board is one of the
key objectives of the ongoing Track II
initiatives between India and Pakistan and the
“quiet” dialogue between the Centre and Hurriyat.
Islamabad—Interior Minister Rehman Malik on
Saturday said that government would soon take
action in Darra Adam Khel and Bara to flush out
terrorists in the wake to recent relentless bomb
blasts in Peshawar, adding he also protested
over interference in Balochistan from
Afghanistan’s side in a meeting with Central
Intelligence Agency Chief Leon Panetta.
Muzaffarabad—Three suspected Taliban militants
blew themselves up on Saturday as police chased
them in Azad Kashmir, police said. Militants
have carried out a series of bomb attacks across
Pakistan in recent weeks in retaliation for a
military offensive in the northwest, but there
have been no attacks in Azad Kashmir.
Peshawar—Pitched battle between the Security
forces and the insurgents in South Waziristan
agency on Saturday resulted in the martyrdom of
as many as 6 men in uniform including an army
officer while the security forces also gunned
down 14 trouble makers as the forces were closed
to secure the region during ongoing operation
code named Rah-e-Nijat in SWA.
Swat—The security
forces will stay in Swat until complete peace in
the area is restored and no one should have any
doubt about Pakistan army’s role as it was
making efforts for the security of the people,
Chief of army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani
said while addressing a gathering at Wadodiya
Hall during his one day trip to Swat.
