GB assembly to hold first session after Eid: Kaira

Rawalpindi—Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira Saturday said the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly is likely to hold its first session after Eid ul Azha. Mr. Kaira, who is also Acting Governor of Gilgit- Baltistan, was speaking at a reception held in honour of the elected members of the GB Legislative Assembly.

High prices of sacrificial animals worry public

Islamabad—Traders of sacrificial animals are fleecing the buyers, who have no choice but to buy the animals in view of the fast approaching Eid-ul-Azha. An average size of multi-colored cow having ‘do daant’ (two teeth) was being priced from Rs 70,000, and comparatively high prices of animals were observed at the stalls.

Children Book Fair concludes

Islamabad—A two-day ‘Children Book Fair’ by National National Book Foundation (NBF) displaying unique variety of children literature concluded today. The fair arranged in connection with Universal Children’s Day aimed at boosting reading habits among children as well as entertaining them with story reading sessions, funny cartoons and humorous poems.

Implementation of global Child-Health reforms pledged

Islamabad—The Pakistan Paediatric Association (PPA) organized a moot of Child-Health experts and practitioners to commemorate the occasion of “International Children’s Day”, which is celebrated globally on November 20th every year. Rizwan Shah the spokesperson for PPA hre said that this heavily attended forum comprised of deliberations on the Child-Health Scenario in Pakistan, reviewed in the light of “Charter of the Rights of Children” (CRC), which was passed by the United Nations General Assembly on the 20th November, 1989.

TV channel wins award

Islamabad—Pakistan’s private TV channel “SAMMA TV” has won Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) excellence award-2009. Pakistan marked a new page in the history of Corporate Social Responsibility by receiving the excellence award 2009 in CSR.The Polio Control Cell was established in joint partnership with UNICEF Pakistan and Ministry of Health, Government of Pakistan. The Asian Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility (AFCSR) announced the winners of the AFCSR Award 2009 at a grand gala award ceremony held in Manila, Philippines.
