Latest drone attack kills 8 in NWA
Tariq Saeed
Peshawar—While the metropolis of NWFP continues to bleed as not a
single day passes by when one area of Peshawar or the other does not
bath in blood through suicide bomb blasts, adding salt to our
injuries the notorious American drones again struck at Tehsil Mir
Ali of North Waziristan Agency on Friday morning killing at least
eight persons.
The American CIA operated drones fired a couple of hell fire
missiles at Amzolae village on Datta Khel road some ten kilometres
from NWA headquarters Miran Shah on Thursday wee hours which had
left four people dead and equal number of others seriously injured.
Reports reaching here from Miran Shah said the US predators appeared
on the skies of Michhi Khel area of Tehsil Mir Ali Friday morning
and fired missiles at a compound which they suspected belonged to
the militants.
As the compound was destroyed by the projectiles, at least eight
people were reported killed and many others sustained injuries. The
official sources, as usual, preferred to remain tight lipped over
the incident.
The locals recovered the dead bodies and the injured from the debris
of the compound while the Taliban are reported to have cordoned off
the area.
There were no reports if any foreigner or the US wanted man was
included among the victims while the people of the area say those
killed by the American fire were the local tribals.
It would be pertinent to mention that the US have restarted drone
attacks in the Waziristan agencies after a pause and at a time when
the Security forces are already conducting operation against the
insurgents in SWA for the last about more than a month and that too
quite successfully.
While there has always been great resentment against the US attacks
among the tribal folk, the militants allege that the drone attacks
are carried out with the consent of the Pakistani authorities.
The militants have often threaten to avenge drones attack in the
settled areas such as Peshawar which has long been bearing the brunt
of the other’s adventurism. |
