Shipping activity at PQ

Karachi—Shipping activity remained active at the Port where three ships carrying Containers and Coal were berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal and Iron ore & Coal Berth respectively on Thursday. Meanwhile two more Container ships also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at eighty two percent on Thursday where a total of eight ships namely C.V CMA CGM Puget, C.V Hanjin Los Angelles, M.V Angelia, M.V Surreall M.V Sound Proodos, M.T Sichem Marseille, M.T Vema Ocean and M.V M.V Kalliop-L are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, Cement, Chemicals, Rape Seeds, Furnace oil and Coal respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo throughput during the report period stood at 73,045 tones comprising 52,826 tones import cargo and 20,219 tones export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1,701 Containers (Boxes) was handled at the Port.

Container ships, CMA CGM Puget and Hanjin Los Angelles, and Oil tanker Vema Ocean sailed out to sea an Friday morning, while another Chemicals carrier Sichem Marseille is expected to sail on same day afternoon.

Four ships C.V Maersk Novazzano, C.V MSC Jemima, M.T AI-Soor-I1 and M.V BMC Geneses scheduled to load/offload Containers, 7,000 tones Rice and 49,856 tones Diesel oil are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-2 and FOTCO respectively an Friday, while Container ship Saudi Tabuk is due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day.—APP
