Govt to establish 6,000 additional utility outlets

Islamabad—Federal Minister for Industries and Production Mian Manzoor Ahmad Watto on Friday said the government would establish 6,000 additional Utility Stores outlets across the country to provide quality items of daily use on subsidised rates to the people.

10,000 farmers order tractors under BTS

Islamabad—As many as 9760 farmers have so far placed their orders for purchasing tractors on subsidized rates under the Benazir Tractor Scheme (BTS) initiated by the government through the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) for the development of agriculture sector in the country.

Shipping activity at PQ

Karachi—Shipping activity remained active at the Port where three ships carrying Containers and Coal were berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal and Iron ore & Coal Berth respectively on Thursday. Meanwhile two more Container ships also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

ICCI opposes hike in FED

Islamabad—Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) has strongly opposed the two percent hike in Federal Excise Duty (FED) as proposed by Federal Board of Revenue and stressed upon the government to explore avenues for broadening tax base instead of putting more pressure on the existing taxpayers.

Rs112b telecom revenue goes into govt kitty

Islamabad—The country’s telecom sector has shown 20 percent growth in its revenues by generating Rs.327.8 billion total revenues in fiscal year 2008-09. As per annual report for year 2008-9 issued by PTA on Friday, the government collected Rs.112 billion in the form of taxes from the sector.
