Residents resent absence of big screen entertainment in capital

Islamabad—The movie loving people of the federal capital have no place to go for enjoying movies at big cinema screens as there is not a single cinema functioning here. Despite the utmost effort of the cultural ministry for reviving film industry in the country which had been languishing during the past 2 decades due to the negligence of government and proliferation of piracy, poor conditions of the film industry has minimized the number of cinema houses in the country.

Inter-provincial gang busted, loot recovered

Islamabad—CIA Islamabad Police busted an inter- provincial gang and recovered looted items worth hundreds of thousands of rupees, illegal weapons and a truck from the possession of these gang members. SP (Investigation) Saqib Sultan Al-Mehmud assigned the task to Incharge CIA, DSP Bashir Ahmed Noon for arresting the culprits involved in dacoity incidents. He constituted a team under his supervision comprising of ASIs Tariq Rauf, Zafar Iqbal and other police officials.

Cops on barricades lack facilities

Islamabad—The officials of Capital Police performing duties on different check points and barricades in the capital are becoming prey to different diseases due to lack of basic facilities, officials complained. The police personnel informed NNI on the condition of anonymity that there is no system of supplying fresh food and toilet facilities at their duty sites.

Clean drinking water demanded

Islamabad—The inhabitants of Bhara Kahu have urged Capital Development Authority (CDA) to take effective measures for provision of clean drinking water to them as they are already facing acute water shortage. The residents of Bahara Koh, New Abadi, Abdullah Town, Shah Pur, Siri Chowk, Jillani, Spring Valley and other areas are facing clean drinking water problem, especially in the summer.

Waste plant causes pollution: Residents

Rawalpindi—The medical disposing plant in the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) Rawalpindi is causing environmental pollution, residents said. Residents of the area said that the poisonous gases of the plant were spreading openly in the air and polluting the atmosphere and posing health hazards for the residents.
