Lahore—Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif
has directed the provincial administration to
ensure supply of sugar to consumers at fix price
of Rs 40 per/kg at all cost. Chairing a meeting
here Wednesday, the Chief Minister directed the
authorities concerned to give media
advertisements about the sale points of sugar
set up by the government.
Islamabad—Pakistan Telecommunication Authority
(PTA) and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Wednesday
agreed to formulate “Third Party Mobile Banking
Regulations”. Chairman PTA Dr. Mohammed Yaseen
called on Governor SBP Syed Salim Raza at State
Bank of Pakistan. The heads of both regulators
discussed the proposed regulations originally
drafted by PTA.
Islamabad—President
Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI)
Zahid Maqbool on Wednesday urged for reducing
the widening banking spread to promote business
activities in the country. In a statement, he
said that the bank spread has increased from 5
percent in September 2008 to 7.4 percent in
September 2009 and is impeding the growth of
business and economic activities.
Rawalpindi—The
domestic consumers were wasting 70 percent of
natural gas owing to inefficient home appliances
which could be saved for commercial and
industrial sectors, Managing Director, Sui
Northern Gas Pipelines Company Limited (SNGPL),
Rashid Lone said on Wednesday. “Our home
appliances especially room heaters and geysers
are 30 percent efficient while their efficiency
in Western countries is up to 88 percent.”
Islamabad—Alternative Energy Development
Board (AEDB) on directives of Prime Minister is
to electrify 7874 remote villages in Sindh and
Balochistan with 6,968 of these villages located
in Balochistan. According to Planning and
Development sources, the National Rural
electrification programme is the main project
being implemented by WAPDA to provide
electricity to the villages of all the four
provinces in the country.
