CDA to give plots to C series affectees

Islamabad—The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has asked the affectees of three sectors of C series for allotment of plots as compensation for their land acquired by CDA to develop residential sectors. According to a senior CDA official, the Authority has completed the land acquisition of three sectors including C-13, C-15 and C-16 as the civic body is planning to open them for residential purpose.

Women to bear brunt of climate change

Islamabad—Women are at the forefront in confronting damages from climate change in Pakistan. This was revealed in UNFPA’s report titled “State of World Population 2009” launched on Wednesday which examines issues links between family planning, reproductive health, gender equality and their impact on the future course of climate change.

Historic photos of Liaquat put on display

Islamabad—A photographic exhibition of Liaquat Ali Khan opened here Wednesday at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) in which some 80 rare photos from different modes of Liaquat Ali Khan’s life were depicted. The 3-day event was organized by the Quaid-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan Memorial Committee to pay tributes to the founding father of the nation.

Govt advised to shun collision politics

Islamabad—The government asked to shun politics of confrontation as any misadventure could cause friction between institutions which could further destabilize the democratic process. Addressing a press conference at PML House, here on Wednesday, Salim Saifullah President of PML (Like Minded) said the ruling party would be responsible if the democratic process is derailed in the country.

Universal Children’s Day celebrated

Islamabad—Ministry of Social Welfare and Special Education on Wednesday celebrated Universal Children’s Day to renew the pledge for ensuring the protection of the rights of children at national and international level. Speakers comprising representatives from various federal ministries, UN Agencies and NGOs highlighted various measures undertaken by the Government in the area of child rights, Protection Bill and Child Protection Policy, which will ensure children rights protection after implementation.
