Anti-encroachment drive
CDA vigilantes appropriate all

Islamabad—Conflicting reports keep surfacing about the ultimate destination of CDA-impounded foodstuff with officials also facing allegations of turning a blind eye to rampaging vendors in the capital city. More than quarter, including this scribe, observed CDA anti- encroachment staff allegedly misappropriating fruit and other foodstuff as these CDA vigilantes were even not above suspicion about enjoying meals at “Chappar” food eateries (kiosks), free of cost.

Child protection bill sent to CII

Islamabad—The Ministry of Social Welfare and Special Education has sent the final draft of the ‘Child Protection Bill’ to the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) for seeking comments regarding the child rights in accordance with Islamic thoughts. The Bill was presented in Federal Cabinet in March this year but was sent back to the ministry with some issues including the child age to be declared as law breaker which was proposed as nine years in the Bill but the views of religious scholars were yet to be included, officials in the ministry told APP on Tuesday.

Documentary highlights women, kids frailties

Islamabad—The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands on Monday launched a documentary titled “A Silence Fractured” at its premises in the Diplomatic Enclave. The showing was well attended by representatives of NGO’s, UN agencies, diplomats and civil society. Dutch human rights ambassador Mr Hamburger was also present.

Sacrificial animals go costly

Islamabad—Eid-ul-Azha is around the corner and sacrificial animals have started arriving in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi but people are taking little interest in buying animals due to high prices. The middle class circles said sacrificial animals were out of reach of common men keeping in view exuberant rates of sacrificial animals.

Islamabad—Ministry of Health, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and Infrastructure Project Development Facility (IPDF) has decided to expedite the work on the two pilot projects that include the development of Center for Liver Disease and Organ Transplant and establishment of National Institute of Dentistry.
