New 5-star hotel soon

Karachi—Karachi City is soon to have another five star hotel “Sofitel” upgrading its status in the destination lists of business and leisure travelers, the under construction hotel has already started attracting new foreign investments. Sofitel Towers and Shopping Mall, a hotel chain managed by Accor the European leader in hotel and tourism industry, is expected to be completed by 2011.

Hamdard Shura urges for nationwide austerity

Karachi—The poverty in the country was not just about money, it was about access to power and it was deprivation not only in economic terms, but deprivation at social and political level as well.  Former bureaucrat, Tasneem Ahmed Siddiqui said this while addressing as guest speaker at the meeting of Shura Hamdard Karachi chapter. He said it could not be measured in terms of calories intake alone. In broader sense it also meant lack of equal opportunities to better life. The many deprivations poor people faced made them extremely vulnerable and they are forced to lead a life of dependency facing exploitation at every step, he added. In the three phases Pakistan’s history, the economic growth was 6.5 per cent but poor remained poor and rich became richer.

Declamation competitions

Karachi—Declamation competitions foster the thinking and analytical skills among students and constructive arguments help understanding each others’ views thus creating a more progressive society. These views were expressed by panel of judges at bilingual declamation competition held at Dawood Public School.  Experts said that such competitions help students mastering the language they speak in and fine tunes their powers of persuasion.

AWC delegation calls on Ebad

Karachi—Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan has said that the country is at present faced with serious challenges and these could be encountered only through good governance. He was talking to the participants of 23rd Air War Course (AWC), which called on him at Governor House Friday. He pointed out that army is successfuly operating against terrorists and this greatly entails political harmony in the country as well.
