Govt promises 69,272 MTs sugar at Rs 38/kg

Islamabad—The government would provide 69,272 metric tons sugar at Rs. 38 per kg through Utility Stores Corporation (USC) network for 30-40 days to fulfill the domestic sugar consumption across the country. The commodity would be available for the masses at all utility stores outlets across the country from November 15, from 1.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. daily, with separate counters for women.

CNG strike postponed after dialogue offer

Lahore—All Pakistan CNG Association put off strike call after receiving an offer from the Petroleum Ministry for holding dialogue at Islamabad on Friday to find a way out of the issue. Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha Chairman All Pakistan CNG Association announced this while addressing a press conference here on Thursday.

Kazi monitor progress of agri loan disbursement

Peshawar—Chief Manager State Bank Peshawar Taslim Kazi Thursday visited union councils Nawan Killi in Swabi and UC Charghulai in Mardan Districts to monitor progress of the programme regarding agriculture loans to the farmers under one window operation for boosting Agri-production Deputy Chief Manager Abid Hussain accompanied the Chief Manager. They also visited agriculture office, Hathian and Takht Bhai tehsil in this connection.

Local assembled autos sale jumps up

Karachi —Despite rupee depreciation which forced the automobile companies to increase price by 1-5 percent of their makes, the sales of locally assembled cars and LCV has shown a surprise jump of 24% to 12,287 units in October 2009. The fear of another round of Rupee depreciation is however haunting the nerves especially of those industries which heavily rely on imported raw material or parts like automobile sector.

Oil prices slip as traders eye US energy inventories

London—Oil weakened on Thursday as traders awaited the weekly update on US crude reserves, and mulled the latest assessment of global oil demand from the International Energy Agency. New York’s main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in December, shed 41 cents to 78.87 dollars a barrel. Brent North Sea crude for December delivery dipped 30 cents to 77.65 dollars per barrel in London trading.
