Islamabad—The NWFP Chief Minister Ameer Haider
Khan Hoti has said the people will have to pay
the price for the survival of the country and
remain prepared for more acts of terrorism by
the terrorists who are targeting congested
places. Talking to media here Wednesday, Hoti
said it was because of the commitment, strategy
and alertness of the security institutions that
they foiled the attempts of the terrorists to
cause heavy losses. He said several terrorist
groups were also arrested.
Gilgit—Federal Minister for Information &
Broadcasting, Mr. Qamar Zaman Kaira, has said
that Pakistan’s nuclear assets are under
fool-proof command and control security system
and the democratic Government and the people of
Pakistan are the vanguards of the country’s
nuclear program. “Pakistan’s nuclear program is
a symbol of our national achievement, national
security, national pride and sovereignty,” said
Mr. Kaira, reacting to recent international
media reports on the safety of Pakistan’s
nuclear weapons. “There is no question of any
deals or tacit understanding by Pakistan with
any external actor on our nuclear weapons’
status during any crisis situation.”
Charsadda—District Charsadda chapter of Awami
National Party has strongly condemned the
Tuesday suicide blast at Farooq Azam square and
announced three days mourning to show unity with
the bereaved families. President ANP District
Charsadda Khalid Khan and office bearers of the
district cabinet of the party while condemning
the blast said that the perpetrators of the
terrorist acts were enemies of the country,
humanity and Pukhtoons.
Peshawar—Former Chairman National Reconstruction
Bureau (NRB) Daniyal Aziz termed the government
decision releasing of funds of the Local
Government (LG) as triumph and vowed to compel
the government for holding LG elections.
Addressing a news conference at press club here
Wednesday, former chairman NRB further said that
he had submitted a writ petition against the
government action for freezing funds of the LG,
but before hearing in the court, the government
had announced to release all the frozen-funds to
the local body system. “It is too difficult to
face the court’s proceedings, so due to this
pressure the government announced releasing
funds of the LG,” he added.
Quetta—Essential food item sugar is being
sold at Rs 70 to 80 in the provincial capital.
APP learnt on Wednesday that sugar which earlier
was being sold at Rs 58 to 65 in bazaars of the
city, now its price had jumped to Rs70 to 80 due
to shortage and black marketing. Quetta based
sugar dealers have contended that they were not
being provided sugar under quota which has led
to its shortage. It was learnt that Utility
Stores Corporation could not provide sugar to
its stores in Balochistan including the
provincial capital as per quota.
