Lahore—A division bench of the Lahore High Court
(LHC) Wednesday, after hearing the detailed
arguments reserved judgement on several
identical Intra Court Appeals (ICAs) against
LHC’s single bench verdict for delaying
bye-polls in Punjab. Khawaja Haris, the counsel
for Punjab Government, Dr. Farooq Hassan,
counsel of Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and other
petitioners concluded their arguments.
Lahore—Winter illnesses are an inevitable part
of childhood, while immunization and
hand-washing can prevent some illnesses.
Influenza activity typically peaks in between
late November and mid-February, but almost all
cases of influenza are preventable, by flu
vaccine. These views were expressed by the
Pakistan Medical Society Chairman, and child
specialist Dr Masood Akhtar Sheikh, while
delivering a lecture for the prevention of
winter season diseases at Special Kids inn
Schools, Lahore.
Lahore—Punjab Minister for Population Welfare
Neelam Jabbar Ch. Wednesday said that Safe
Delivery Centers (SDCs) would be established at
union council level to reduce mother and child
mortality incidence, especially in far flung
areas of the province. Talking to various
delegations at her office, she expressed
concerns over high mortality rate of mother and
child in remote areas due to handling of the
situation by illiterate and unskilled midwives.
She said that under a pilot project SDCs would
be setup in one district initially and after its
success the project would be replicated in other
districts as well.
Lahore—The health department has made special
arrangements for the provision of timely health
care facilities to the participants of second
phase religious congregation (Tiblighi Ijtimah)
at Raiwind. This was disclosed by Director
health Lahore division Dr.Umer Farooq Baloch
while talking to APP here on Wednesday. He said,
round the clock facility would be available at
the site and specialist, doctors and paramedical
staff have also been deputed to facilitate the
participants of the Ijtimah.
Lahore—Senior Provincial Minister Raja Riaz
Wednesday demanded trial of former President
Pervez Musharraf under article-6 of the
constitutions. He was addressing a press
conference at Lahore Press Club. Provincial
Ministers- Tanvir Ashraf Kaira, Ashraf Sohna and
Neelam Jabbar, PPP leaders Mushtaq Awan, Munir
Ahmad Malik were also present on the occasion.
He highly condemned Musharraf for using indecent
langauge against President Asif Ali Zardari.
