Islamabad—Minister for Textile Industry Rana
Farooq Saeed Khan Wednesday lambasted President
Musharraf for his ‘derogatory remarks’ about the
elected President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari.
“These are the remarks of a dejected usurper of
masses rights, a dictator and a violator of the
Constitution,” Farooq said in a statement. The
minister said, history is witness that Asif Ali
Zardari preferred to remain in Pakistan and
faced the charges framed against him though none
was proved. “But, Musharraf did not have the
courage to face masses wrath and the charges
levelled against him.”
Islamabad—Chairperson Benazir
Income Support Programme (BISP), Farzana Raja
has said that development of Gilgit-Baltistan is
among the top priorities of the Pakistan
People’s Party government. Following the vision
of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir
Bhutto, the government has initiated the
development process to end the sense of
deprivation among the people of Gilgit-Baltistan,”
she said while addressing a press statement.
Islamabad—The
scarcity of sugar in twin cities has increased
the miseries of people and forced them to import
sugar from other cities, people said. People
complained that no sugar available in the
markets of Shakrial, Bahara Kahu, Chak Shezad,
Rawal Town, Chatha Bakhtawar, Aabpara and in
Super Market. People said regarding the sugar
crises that people of twin cities are facing
problem from last many days. The merchants of
different areas said that the system of supply
and demand is deranged in twin cities.
Islamabad—Professor Khalid Rahman, principal,
Frederick Douglass College moderated the
discussions held at college premises in
collaboration with Iqbalians. Speakers included
Humayum Iqbal Shami, Lubna Farogh, Madam Naila,
Dr Sajid Khakawani, Khalid Majid and Dr Nurul
Islam Hashmi. Founder of Iqbalians advocate M.
Kowkab Iqbal presided the function. Dr Nurul
Islam from Peshawar argued that in his
town(Peshawar)people understood Iqbal’s poetry
in Persian much better than his work in Urdu.
Humayun Iqbal Shami, a bureaucrat and economist
said, no state could call itself Islamic if all
citizens did not enjoy opportunities to
progress.
Islamabad—Used
cooking oil and ghee for frying edibles are
going on as the winter starts, putting people’s
health at a risk in twin cities of Islamabad and
Rawalpindi. Most of the vendors fry edibles in
used oil and do not change it despite using it
for many days. Even some leading restaurants had
been found using cooking oil for more than eight
days in their fryers, a customer Akram Ali
complained .
