Islamabad—The Senate Standing Committee on
Special Education, Tuesday,underlined the need
for making collective efforts to bring about a
qualitative change in the lives of special
children and to make them valuable members of
the society. The Committee that met at the
Parliament House under the Chairmanship of
Senator Prof. Sajid Mir to discuss the
initiatives taken by the Ministry for the
welfare of the persons with disabilities also
suggested the establishment of more educational
and vocational centers as the currently
available centers were unable to meet the
demand. The prime focus of the discussion was on
the education of special persons.
Islamabad—Amid heightened political environment
in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) on the last day of
electioneering for the first ever elections for
Legislative Council, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz
(PML-N) levelled pre poll rigging allegations on
the ruling PPP by dint of misuse of state
machinery and resources to win public opinion
for its candidates. PML-N criticized GB
Governor, Federal Minister for Information and
Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira for politicizing
the office of Governor by addressing public
gatherings in different areas in GB in the
capacity of his official portfolio. Member PML-N
Parliamentary Board on Gilgit-Baltistan,
Siddiqul Farooq, Tuesday, accused PPP for
misusing state machinery and resources to force
people to vote for its candidates.
Islamabad—All leading
private schools in the federal capital resumed
routine activities after about weeks long
closure due to prevailing security situation in
the country. President Private Schools
Association (PSA) Zofran Elahi said that schools
in rural areas started their study activities a
week earlier while the institutes in the suburbs
of the capital including City School, Beacon
House and Frobels International resumed their
activities today.

Fehmida Mirza Tuesday said the Muslim Ummah was
confronting challenges that could be resolved by
forging unity among Muslims countries. There are
misperceptions in the western countries about
Islam and I strongly urge religious scholars and
mediapersons to play their important role to
dispel the misperceptions of the West”, she
expressed these views while talking to the
Ambassador of Iran Mshaalah Shakeri who called
on her in the Parliament House.
Islamabad—Reporters without Borders has
called on the Pakistani authorities to allow the
news media better access to the Tribal Areas in
the northwest of the country, where the army has
been waging an offensive against the Taliban in
Waziristan for the past three weeks.“We are
aware of the risks for journalists, but the
current lack of access to Waziristan for the
Pakistani and foreign media is unsatisfactory,”
Reporters without Borders said.
