Islamabad—President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday
said that both Pakistan and the United States
needed to take a holistic view of their
bilateral relations. The President said
this during a meeting with U.S. Congressional
delegation headed by Ms. Jane Harman,
Chairperson of the Homeland Security
Subcommittee on Intelligence and Terrorism Risk
Assessment to Pakistan, which called on him here
at the Presidency on Tuesday night.
Peshawar—The cities of North West Frontier
Province (NWFP) continue to be under terror
attack as deadly blast in Charsadda on Tuesday
afternoon caused death of 32 people and injuries
to more than 50 others. Those killed included
women and children. The doctors at Lady Reading
Hospital Peshawar and DHQ Charsadda described
condition of many injured people as precarious.
Huge damage to the property and vehicles was
also reported. 50 shops were destroyed by the
explosion which wreaked havoc in the area.
Islamabad—Demand for trial of former
President General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf under
Article 6 of the Constitution was again made in
the lower House of the Parliament.
Opposition Leader in the Assembly Chaudhary
Nisar Ali Khan not only condemned Musharraf’s
remarks against President Asif Ali Zardari,
published in an English daily on Monday, but
called him absconder.
Islamabad—Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza
Gilani has said that war against terrorism was
not an ordinary war rather government was
fighting guerrilla warfare. While speaking in
the National Assembly on Tuesday, Prime Minister
said that the terrorists’ suicide attacks were a
reaction to government’s success in operation.
Peshawar—As many as nine terrorists have been
killed and another terrorist was apprehended
during operation Rah-e-Nijat in the last 24
hours in South Waziristan Agency, an ISPR
statement here Tuesday said. On
Jandola-Sararogha Axis, security forces secured
Tsappara and adjoining ridges and search and
clearance operations at Sarai Ghundaka, Kandao,
Spinkai and Zariwam are under progress.
Islamabad—Saudi Arabia will provide 380 million
dollars to Pakistan for budgetary support and
other purposes. The Agreements were signed in a
ceremony held in Economic Affairs Division. The
Saudi delegation was led by Mr. Yousef Ibrahim
AI-Bassam, Vice Chairman and Managing Director,
Saudi Fund for Development. The Saudi Ambassador
to Pakistan Mr. Abdul Aziz Al-Ghadeer also
attended the signing ceremony.
