WCCI hails promotional measures

Multan —President Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Multan, (WCCI), Anila Iftikhar said that the measures taken by Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani to promote the art work of women of southern Punjab, have proved to be fruitful. The handicrafts of Pakistan gained lots of popularity especially in Paris and Syria due to the special interest taken by the PM.

She said that the conference of businesswomen of Islamic countries, in which Multan also represented for the first time, remained successful. Anila Iftikhat said that the businesswomen of Multan, including she herself, along with Najam-ul-Nisa, Masooma Shoaib, Romana Ahmad, Fozia and Khusnoda Naeem, have introduced the local products and handicrafts of Multan to all over the world. “Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is providing assistance to women”, she added.

She further said that State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) should form a separate procedure for the guidance and release of loans to the women entrepreneurs, adding that mark up rate should lie around 5 to 6 percent.

Anila Iftikhar suggested that there should be an agreement between Women Chamber of Commerce and Jail Department to take the advantage of artwork of women prisoners.

Under this agreement, women prisoners should be paid due amount against their services, what they would pay for the WCCI. In this way they (women prisoners) could get freedom by paying their fines. She further told that an international bridal show is going to be held in Dubai in which Multan would also participate.—Agencies
