Rawalpindi—Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Tariq Majid has rejected the article published in ‘The New Yorker’ about Pakistan’s nuclear assets terming it as absurd and plain mischievous.  He stated, “we have operationalised a very effective nuclear security regime, which incorporates very stringent custodial and access controls.

Second suicide blast in 24 hours
Cop among 3 killed, 5 hurt

Peshawar—Terrorism continue to hit the provincial metropolis where within a short span of twenty four hours another suicide blast killed as many as three people including a cop and left another five seriously injured. A policeman and a minor are included among the wounded persons. Some 16 persons including a union council Nazim and head of the local peace Lashker were killed and over forty others injured in a suicide explosion in the outskirts of Peshawar a day earlier.

Osama is alive: Hekmatyar

Kabul—Chief of Hezb-e-Islami Gulbudin Hekmatyar has disclosed that Osama Bin Laden is alive, sources said Monday. In his video message, he said that if the United States announces to pull out its forces from Afghanistan, it will be given save exit. Hekmatyar was of view that owing to wrong strategy of al Qaeda, Taliban government was toppled.

Israel clinches $1.1b mily deal with India

New Delhi—Israel has signed a $1.1 billion contract to supply an upgraded tactical air defence system to India, with delivery expected by 2017, an Israeli official said on Monday. The sale of the Barak-8 systems came as India’s army chief, General Deepak Kapoor, held high-level talks in Israel, India’s biggest defence supplier.

World marks fall of Berlin Wall

Berlin—World leaders past and present gathered in the German capital on Monday to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Berlin Wall’s fall, which led to German reunification and hastened the demise of the Soviet Union. Images of the historic night of November 9, 1989, when East Berliners trapped behind the 3.6 meter (12 feet) high concrete barrier rushed checkpoints to force it open, dominated German television and newspaper coverage for the past week.

$380m Saudi loan for Pakistan

Islamabad—Saudi Arabia would give $380 million as loan to Pakistan and an agreement between the two countries would be inked today (Tuesday). According to sources of Economic Affairs Division, the loan would be provided by Saudi Development Fund.
