Pace of Lyari uplift reviewed

Karachi—A high level meeting to review the pace of development works in Liyari Town under the Liyari Development Package (LDP) was held at the Sindh Planning and development Department’s Committee Room on Thursday. Sindh minister for Katchi Abadies and Spatial Development Engineer Muhammad Rafique Advocate chaired the meeting while Additional Chief Secretary (Dev) Munawar Opal, LDP Project Director Shafiq-ur Rehman, Dr Hassan Afridi, Nazim Liyari Town Mehmood Hashim and other high officials attended the meeting.

APSC donation for IDPs

Karachi—The students of Army Public Schools and Colleges in Karachi and Malir Garrisons have donated relief goods for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Mehsud tribe in South Waziristan Agency. The contribution was on voluntary basis and the students donated various items spending mainly their pocket money.

Property sale to foreigners banned

Karachi—The Real Estate Professional Forum (REPF) welcomes government decision for binding estate agents under article-144 to not to rent, lease or sale property to any foreigner. An emergency meeting of the forum was presided over by the Chairman REPF Abdul Sattar Shaikh. Sattar Shaikh speaking to the participants showed concerned over the government decision for making it obligatory for the estate agents to provide information of all such deals to the area Police, as he claimed that it would only open up a new door of corruption and may cause closure of the already crisis facing estate agencies.

Youth centres

Karachi—Five regional youth development centres would be established in the province at an estimated cost of Rs. 353.26 million. This was stated by the Sindh Minister for Youth Affairs, Syed Faisal Ali Subzwari. He was presiding over a meeting of the officials of the Youth Affairs Department here on Friday.

Ground grabbing noticed

Karachi—Sindh Home Minister, Dr Zulfikar Ali Mirza has taken strict notice of alleged police occupation of an old graveyard in Bin Qasim Town. The Minister called for an inquiry report from CCPO Karachi about the reported alleged act with the directive that strict action be taken against police officials and personnel if held responsible for occupation of graveyard and transgression of powers in the light of the report.
