Shahbaz announces 1000 prizes for top teachers

Lahore—Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has sanctioned one thousand prizes to the top performing Head Teachers and Teachers at the rate of fifty thousand rupees each as recognition of their extra-ordinary performance.

LHC adjourns hearing of ICA

Lahore—A division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Thursday adjourned the hearing of several identical Intra Court Appeals (ICAs) against LHC’s earlier verdict for delaying by-polls in Punjab, till November 10. On a request by the appellants to decide the appeals soon as the election schedule would be expired on November 7, the court gave remarks that the decision would not be made in a haste and every party would be provided opportunity of hearing.

Criminal gangs smashed, 1859 held

Lahore—Lahore Police smashed 578 criminal gangs and arrested their 1859 members and recovered looted property worth Rs 1070 million during last 10 months. Over 25,000 court absconders and proclaimed offenders have also been nabbed during the same period. It was disclosed in a special meeting of senior police officers held under the chairmanship of Capital City Police Officer, Muhammad Pervez Rathore, here Thursday.

PPP govt to complete tenure: Raja Riaz

Lahore—Senior Punjab Minister Raja Riaz Ahmad Thursday said that the PPP government would complete its tenure and no minus-one formula was being considered. Talking to newsmen in front of Punjab Assembly building here, he said that Asif Ali Zardari was democratically elected President and would complete his tenure.
