Mirpur (AJK)—An
extensive drive will be launched by the Azad
Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Population Welfare
Department in the area soon to discourage the
trend of increasing population. AJK Minister for
Population Welfare, Naheed Tariq stated this
while addressing to a press conference after
assuming the charge of the Ministry of
Population Welfare of AJK. A large number of
Muslim Conference workers and notables were also
present on the occasion.
Chitral—People of Chitral will get emergency
passage facility through under construction
Lawari tunnel from the ensuing winter season
after the Lawari top locked due to heavy snow
fall. This will be the first time, the residents
of this land locked district will travel through
their own country during severe winter as
earlier, they have to come through Afghanistan
to re-enter their own country in emergency
cases.
Peshawar—A meeting of the special committee
constituted for reviewing problems of MPAs
regarding installation of 500 dug-wells and Tube
wells was held under the chairmanship of NWFP
Minister for Agriculture, Arbab Mohammad Ayub
Jan at his office Civil Secretariat Peshawar on
Tuesday. NWFP Minister for Technical Education,
Mehmood Zeb Khan, MPAs Israrullah Khan Gandapur,
Saqibullah Khan Chamkani and Abdul Akbar Khan
and Secretary Agriculture Attaullah Khan
participated in the meeting.
Islamabad—The Government of Japan has decided
to grant financial support of US$ 90,262
(approx. Rs. 7.23 million) for the supply of
safe drinking water to the residents of Skardu,
Northern Areas. The financial support will be
provided under “the Grant Assistance for
Grassroots Human Security Projects” to the
“Grace Association Pakistan” for the provision
of water supply system in villages Astana Bala,
Astana Paeen, Gultri colony and Brolumo colony
around four kilometers from Skardu city on
airport road.

Khan—Spokesman for Special Support Group, Col
Waseem said Wednesday that registration of the
displaced people of Waziristan and distribution
of non food items among them are underway at the
established camps in DI Khan and Tank districts.
In addition to health facilities, he said that
evening classes in schools have been started for
IDPs children. He was talking to journalists
here at Sports Stadium.
