Community Libraries, commonly known as reading
rooms, set up in different sectors of federal
capital are still without electricity for the
last one year. Six libraries, established by
Libraries Department of Ministry of Education in
G-7, G-8, I-8, I-10, G-11 and F-11 sectors,
bring back to the memories of Stone Age when
readers utilize daylight to quench their thirst
for knowledge.
Rawalpindi—Hundreds
of motorbikes, without front or rear lights not
only pose risk to the road users in the city but
can also be a serious threat for the security
personnel manning the checkpoints at night.
Police personnel deputed at several barricades
across the city to check ‘would-be terrorists’
admitted that it becomes very hard to see a
motorbike without lights approaching them at
night. It is very serious as there is no check
on bike riders and vehicles moving on the roads
without lights,” a police ASI posted on a
barrier said.
Islamabad—Rescue 1122 has
launched a complaint and suggestion cell to
facilitate the residents with the aim to improve
the functioning of the services which require
constant feedback from the people. An official
of Rescue 1122 told APP that the complaint cell
would entertain telephonic, walk-in, e-mail and
letter queries from the persons regarding the
problems they face in every day matters.
He said that the service has been established to
manage emergencies like Road traffic accidents,
buildings collapse, explosions, fires and
disasters.
Rawalpindi—Minister
for Defence Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar said on
Wednesday that the military operation against
terrorists was going on successfully and would
soon achieve the desired objectives. He was
talking to Defence Minister of Netherlands, E
Van Middelkoop, who called on him here. Both the
leaders discussed the security situation of the
region with special focus on Afghanistan and the
ongoing military operation in South Waziristan.
Islamabad—The Ministry of Youth
Affairs has received over 59,677 applications
from across the country for the 3rd batch of
National Internship Programme (NIP). Dirctor
General NIP, Ashiq Hussain told APP that the
under the program the NIP has received over
39,239 online applications and 4,238 by post
applications, adding that among the total
applicants 13,247 are female and 25,992 male
applicants.
