Islamabad—The Chairman Senate, Mr. Farooq H.
Naek, Tuesday, emphasized need of sharing
experiences and having closer cooperation
especially amongst the Parliaments and
Legislative Bodies of the world to combat the
menace of terrorism by effectively curbing the
sources of terrorists’ financing. He said this
in his inaugural address to the participants of
the Judicial Workshop for Parliamentarians
organized by United Nations Counter Terrorism
Executive Directorate (CTED) here today.
Attock—The district
police officer (DPO), Fakhar Sultan Raja held
here a meeting on Monday to review the security
arrangements for the Sikh yatrees at Gurdawra
Punja Sahib, Hasanabdal. The meeting was
attended by the SDPOs, SHOs, DSP, Traffic Police
Attock and officials of law enforcement
agencies. The DPO directed the all police
officials to further tighten the security
measures and be vigilant in the prevailing
security concerns till the departure of Sikh
yatress as their security is top priority of the
government.
Peshawar—Provincial
Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Authority
NWFP is prepared to start housing survey in
district Swat from tomorrow (Nov 5). The
objectives of the survey is to give grant to
owners whose houses are partially or completely
damaged due to conflict.65 survey teams have
been constituted to conduct door to door survey
and collect required information, said a press
release issued by the authority on Tuesday.
Faisalabad—Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology
(FIC) successfully conducted 7 Open Heart
Operations during the first two days after its
inauguration by Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad
Shahbaz Sharif. A spokesman of the FIC said here
Tuesday that a team of eminent heart Specialists
comprising of Professor Jawad Sajid Punjab
Institute of Cardiology (PIC) Lahore, Professor
Abdul Waheed, Assistant Professor Zulfiqar and
Associate Professor Dr. Shahbaz Ahmed
successfully conducted open heart surgery
operations of Adnan (12 year) Hamza (5 Year) and
Rizwan (18 year) on Monday and 4 operations on
Tuesday, under close supervision of Project
Director Dr. Riaz Ahmed Chaudhary. He said that
the institute has enlisted 300 cardiac patients
for Open Heart Surgery while 10 patients have
already been admitted in the hospital and they
will be operated upon on their turn.
Multan—The administration of public schools
and colleges have asked the people not to enter
the premises of educational institutions for
morning or evening walk or play. They have
displayed messages on their main entrance gates
that those who used to come to the school or
colleges for morning or evening walk or to play
on the grassy grounds are advised to abandon the
practice.
