Lahore—Punjab Education Minister Mian Mujtaba
Shuja-ur-Rehman has announced that with a view
to providing higher education facility to middle
class population of the locality, Queen Merry
College (QMC) would be upgraded to university by
granting degree awarding charter. In a meeting
with PML-N workers and notables people from his
constituency here Sunday, he commended the
performance of the QMC in various examinations.
Lahore—The
Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) gave a detailed
multimedia presentation to the Government
College University’s students about the Army
recruitment procedures, objectives, training,
and the life and rigorous routine of the academy
cadets at the varsity’s Bokhari Auditorium here
Monday. The presentation was aimed at motivating
and guiding the brilliant students of the
university to join the Pakistan Army and serve
the nation in peace and war with pride.
Lahore—Newly
elected Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir
(AJK) Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan called on
the Punjab Governor Salman Taseer and discussed
various national issues in a meeting at the
Governor House here. Punjab Governor felicitated
Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan on his election
as the Prime Minister of AJK.
Lahore—Provincial Minister for Culture, Youth
Affairs and Sports, Dr. Tanvir ul Islam has
directed to ensure foolproof security
arrangements in all the Arts Councils and
Cultural Complexes in the Province besides
installation of walk-through gates. Physical
checking of staff and spectators by metal
detectors has also been made compulsory and the
government also will provide additional funds
for these arrangements.
Lahore—The Jamaat-e-Islami chief, Syed Munawar
Hasan, has said that the National Assembly that
approves the controversial NRO, would deserve
dissolution. Talking to media at Mansoora on
Monday, he supported the demand for President
Zardari’s resignation. Earlier, he presided over
a reference in memory of eminent educationist
and scholar on Iqbailat, Prof. Abdul Jabbar
Shakir who breathed his last recently.
