Islamabad—Political tensions are brewing over
the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO),
just ahead of the commencement of the crucial
National Assembly session which witnessed loud
protests against the Ordinance by opposition
members leading to the walkout by the PML-N
members.
Rawalpindi—At least 34 persons were killed and
32 injured in a suicide attack outside the
branch of National Bank in the busy Saddar area
of the city on Monday. Several security men and
children and women were killed in the attack
that took place around 10:39 in the morning when
a motorbike rider blew himself up outside the
bank close to the four star Shalimar Hotel when
the people in large number had queued up to draw
their salaries and pensions.
Peshawar/Islamabad—The security forces and the
insurgents were locked in fierce battle in parts
of South Waziristan Agency Monday leaving
another dozen miscreants dead as the forces were
closed to capturing the Taliban main strong hold
Sararogha. The infighting also resulted in
injuries to six soldiers.

Lahore—One police constable Lateef was killed
and at least 14 others including five police
officials injured, when a suicide bomber blew
himself up outside a security checkpoint at Babu
Sabu Police Checkpost near Sherakot Interchange.
Details revealed that the blast took place when
a white Suzuki Mehran rammed into the police
check post near Sherakot interchange.

organisers Monday declared Hamid Karzai Afghan
president for a second term, cancelling a
one-man presidential run-off following a
diplomatic push led by UN chief Ban Ki-moon. We
declare that Hamid Karzai, who won the majority
of votes in the first round, and is the only
candidate in the second round, is the elected
president of Afghanistan,” Indepedent Election
Commission chairman Azizullah Ludin said.
