Bilour pleads declaring NWFP as affected province, tax exemption

Peshawar—The Federal Minister for Railways, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour here Friday called for declaring NWFP as affected province and waving off taxes on traders after they suffered great losses in war against militancy and terrorism. Addressing a press conference here at Press Club, Federal Minister said that traders community especially shopkeepers have badly been affected due to powerful bomb blasts and suicide explosions in Peshawar and parts of NWFP and has stressed the need for improvement in security measures in Peshawar after four bomb blasts rocked it during last one month.

1000 kg explosive seized, 4 arrested

Dera Ghazi Khan—Police have foiled a massive plot of terrorism here on late Thursday night and arrested four terrorists along with explosive laden vehicle in which they were traveling. Commandant Border Military Police (BMP) Tariq Bukhari said that a vehicle going from NWFP to Balochistan via via Tarman (Punjab) was stopped in Bawata, the tribal area of DGK situated on Punjab-NWFP border for checking.

Security for Sikh pilgrims

Wah Cantt—All arrangements have been finalized to provide foolproof security to the Sikh pilgrims, Syed Asif Hashmi, Chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board said on Friday. Syed Asif Hashmi, Chairman of the body which looks after the affairs of the minorities and their religious places in Pakistan, was talking to newsmen here at Gurdwara Punja Sahib Hassanabdal. He said that the government would provide three-tier security to the Sikh pilgrims during their stay in Pakistan.

Peshawar—Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has urged upon the internally displaced persons from North Waziristan to avoid duplication of registration as their duplication attempt not only waste the time of officials but also add miseries in the genuine persons standing in the queue for registration.
